Race Directors FAQ

Why should I hire a timing company?

Partnering with a professional timing company ensures accurate times for your runners and enhances their overall race experience. Accurate timing is a key thing runners are looking for when choosing races.

When are results available?

We start streaming results live online shortly after the first person finishes. We will then provide you with an awards list at the end of the race or when most age groups have filled up.

Do you supply the race bibs?

Yes, we provide standard race bibs as a part of our service, at no additional cost. If you’d like, we can also coordinate bib design and printing to match your race’s branding and highlight race sponsors.

Do you only time road races?

No, we time a variety of events, including road races, cross country meets, trail runs, triathlons, and more. If you have a unique event, let us know– we’d love to discuss your timing needs!

What areas do you servce?

We primarily serve central and eastern North Carolina, but can travel outside this area upon request. Contact us to see if we can accomodate your location.

When do you arrive on site?

We typically arrive 1.75- 2 hours before the start of the event to ensure all equipment is set up and tested. For larger or more complex races, we may arrive earlier to ensure everything runs smoothly.

What about online registration?

We partner with Runsignup to streamline participant sign-ups and data management. Our timing software connects seamlessly with Runsignup for accurate race-day operations.

Can you help with more than just timing?

Absolutely! We can assist with race-day logistics, equipment rentals, course design & certification, as well as race marketing.

Do you rent out timing equipment?

We do not rent out timing equipment. Instead, we provide it exclusively as part of our comprehensive timing services, operated by our trained staff to ensure accuracy and a seamless race experience.

Participant FAQs

I don't see my time lilisted in the results. What should I do?

If your time is missing, please contact us as soon as possible with your bib number and any details about your finish. Occasionally, issues like a registration issue or incorrect bib placement can cause errors, and we’ll work quickly to resolve them.

What is the difference between clock time and chip time?

Clock time, or “gun time,” starts when the race officially begins, regardless of when you cross the starting line. Chip time measures your individual time from when you cross the starting line to when you cross the finish line.

Most races do overall awards based on gun times and age groups awards based on chip times.

I have a question about event details.

For questions about event logistics like parking, course layout, or start times, please refer to the event website or contact the race organizer directly. We handle the timing, but the event organizers manage those details.

Can I get a refund or deferral?

Refund and deferral policies are set by the race organizer, not the timing company. Please contact the event organizer directly to discuss your options.
